Peder Mørk Mønsted (Peter Mark Monsted)(10 decembrie 1859—20 iunie 1941) a fost un pictor realist danez.Nascut la sfarsitul ‘epocii de aur’ a picturii daneze, Monsted poate fi descris ca produs al acelei ere. Un pictor peisagist renumit pentru claritatea luminii obisnuita la pictorii perioadei, reprezentarile naturaliste ‘in aer liber’ l-aau facut cel mai mare peisagist danez al epocii sale.

Monsted s-a nascut in Balle langa Ganaa in estul Danemarcei, mai tarziu s-a mutat in Copenhaga. Acolo a studiat la Academie intre 1875 si 1876, sub indrumarea lui Andries Fritz (1828 1906), un pictor de peisaje si portrete si cu Julius Exner (1825 1910).

Monsted a calatorit foarte mult in Elvetia, Italia si Africa de Nord. De-a lungul vietii sale, Monsted a continuat sa picteze peisaje daneze intro maniera romantica.A fost artistul care a descris grandoarea si aspectul monumental al peisajului, cu un accent remarcabil pe detaliu si culoare.

Pregatirea lui Monsted l-a ajutat sa asimileze tehnici de o mare virtuozitate din naturalismul academic pe care le-a transformat intrun stil artistic realist, creand fotografii, ceea ce i-a adus recunostere si apreciere.
