Sophie Gengembre Anderson (1823, Paris – 10 martie 1903, Falmouth, Cornwall) a fost o pictorita englezoaica nascuta in Franta care s-a specializat in pictura de compozitie cu copii si femei in scene rurale.Lucrarile ei apartin genului pre-rafaelit.
Ea a fost fiica lui Charles Gengembre, un arhitect parizian, iar mama ei a fost englezoaica. In cea mai mare parte a fost o autodidacta, dar a studiat portretistica cu Charles de Steuben in Paris in 1843. Familia a plecat din Franta in Statele Unite pentru a scapa de revolutia din 1848 revolution, au locuit mai intai in Cincinnati, Ohio, apoi in Manchester, Pennsylvania, unde Sophie l-a intalnit si s-a casatorit cu pictorul englez Walter Anderson.
In 1854 s-au mutat la Londra unde Sophie si-a expus lucrarile la Academia Regala.S-au stabilit in final la Londra in jurul anului 1863.
