Paul Delvaux (23 septembrie 1897 – 20 iulie 1994)  a fost un pictor belgian faimos pentru picturile sale suprarealiste cu nuduri de femei.Delvaux s-a nascut in Antheit in provincia belgiana Liège, fiind fiul unui avocat. Tanarul Delvaux a luat lectii de muzica, a studiat  greaca si latina si a citit opera lui Jules Verne si poezia lui Homer. Intreaga sa opera a fost influentata de aceste lecturi incepand cu desene care descriu scene mitologice. A studiat la  Academia Regala de Arte Frumoase din Brussels, cu toate ca departamentul de arhitectura era ambitia parintilor sai care nu voiau ca fiul lor sa devina pictor. Cu toate acestea, el si-a urmat telul si a urmat cursurile de pictura tinute de Constant Montald si Jean Delville.
