Jacob Jordaens – Self-Portrait among Parents, Brothers and Sisters
Jacob Jordaens (19 mai 1593 – 18 octombrie 1678), unul dintre cei trei pictori ai barocului flamad, alaturi de Peter Paul Rubens si Anthony van Dyck, care au adus prestigiu scolii de pictura din Antwerp. Spre deosebire de contemporanii sai, artistul n-a calatorit niciodata in Italia sa studieze pictura.Cu exceptia unor mici iesiri in apropiere, a trait in Antwerp intreaga sa viata.nu a fost doar un pictor de succes ci si un desavarsit designer de tapiterii.

Ca si Rubens, Jordaens a pictat altare, scene mitologice si alegorii, iar dupa moartea lui Rubens in 1640 a ramas cel mai important pictor din Antwerp cu multe comenzi care i-au marit faima.Actualmente e cunoscut mai ales pentru picturile sale cu scene bazate pe proverbe in maniera contemporanului sau Jan Brueghel cel Bătrân.
