Carl Bloch - Gethsemane

Carl Heinrich Bloch ( 23 mai 1834 –  22 februarie 1890) , pictor danez.

S-a nascut in Copenhaga si a studiat cu  Wilhelm Marstrand la Academia Regala Daneza de Arta.

Primele sale lucrari au descris scene rurale din viata de fiecare zi. Intre 1859 si 1866, Bloch a trait  in Italia, aceasta perioada fiind  importanta in evolutia picturilor cu teme istorice.
